Fix for File is too large for the Destination File System error

You are getting an error “File is too large for the Destination File System “ while trying to copy files which have a size of 4 GB or more then here I have a solution for you which will definitely be going to give you relief.

First take a look Why we face this kind of issues ?

Now, here I am trying to copy a movie of size 4.62 GB from my lappy to Pendrive which have capacity of 16GB and have 14.9 GB space free, but then also facing error which says XYZ Name is too large for the Destination File System , Now I don’t know why this issue is coming and How I will solve it ?

This issue came because the pendrive or storage drive has Fat32 file extension, In Fat32 you unable to copy files more than 4 GB and to copy those files you have to change your Pendrive extension to NTFS. Now take a look How you can change it.

  • First right click on Pendrive Location, where you find option to Format it, Click on Format.

  • Here In File System Select NTFS and click on Start.

  • Hurray Now problem is solved. Your Pendrive file System changed from Fat32 to NTFS and Now you can Copy Large files easily without seeing any error.
